While ambling through street style shots I kept noticing a big pink shoe. What was it? Why does it look so familiar?
Eventually I identified it as Sies Marjan’s Ellen shoe, sold by Barney’s. Looks great:
as is this John Fluevog shoe seen on my prized poster from the Costume Institute at the Met (poster thrifted).
I would not claim these shoes are identical, and of course I don’t know if Sies Marjan ever saw John Fluevog’s shoe. For that matter, who knows if either of them had ever seen old Tudor heels from the 16th century.
Is there anything new under the sun?
